How to prescribe Qlosi 

Write prescriptions for Qlosi as follows:
Up to 2 drops in each eye per day with 23 refills
or 

1–2 drops in each eye per day with 23 refills

Include the following patient information: Patient date of birth, mobile number, contact phone number, and email address.

Inform patient on what to expect 

The selected pharmacy will contact the patient via SMS to confirm the prescription, and collect payment and shipping information.

How to introduce Qlosi to patients who want to take a break from their readers
Quincy

Early presbyope

Quincy would benefit from the flexible dosing offered by Qlosi. Quincy can use his readers when necessary. Qlosi will last for 2 to 3 hours after 1 dose for his in-person meetings. The second drop can be administered for those after-hours dinners, for a total of up to 8 hours of clear near vision.

Helping patients understand presbyopia

Though presbyopia is a common part of aging, there is a lot of frustration and embarrassment that comes with this transition. Eye care professionals can play a key role in helping presbyopia patients through this.1 

How Qlosi works

Inform your patients that Qlosi can help by improving the eye's natural ability to focus on nearby objects. Qlosi is the only FDA-approved eye drop with the lowest effective concentration of pilocarpine for patients with presbyopia. It was optimally designed to enhance clear near vision with minimal side effects.2-4

How short (or long) does Qlosi provide clear near vision?

Presbyopia patients will discover the benefits of flexible dosing and how Qlosi can fit into their lifestyle.

The first week, Qlosi Clear Start Week, helps eyes adjust to Qlosi. It is taken 2x a day for 7 days that first week. After that, they can choose 1 drop or 2 drops each day.2

After their Clear Start Week, presbyopia patients can use a drop of Qlosi in each eye in the morning. This dose can be repeated a second time after 2 to 3 hours for an effect up to 8 hours.2 

What about using Qlosi with contacts and other eye drops?

With contact lenses

  • Simply remove contact lenses, use Qlosi, and wait 10 minutes before putting them back in2

 

While taking other eye drops

  • Just wait 5 minutes after using Qlosi before using the other eye drops2

 

Patients can take Qlosi with them on the go

  • Qlosi is supplied in single-use vials of 0.4 mL2

 

On a daily basis, or as needed, up to twice each day

  • Place one drop of Qlosi in each eye. Qlosi can be dosed a second time after 2 to 3 hours2

Indication and Usage

 

Qlosi™ (pilocarpine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution) 0.4%, for topical ophthalmic use is a cholinergic receptor agonist indicated for the treatment of presbyopia in adults.

Warnings and Precautions

Advise patients to not drive or operate machinery if vision is not clear (e.g., blurred vision). Exercise caution in night driving and other hazardous occupations in poor illumination.

 

Rare cases of retinal detachment have been reported with miotics. Examination of the retina is advised in all patients prior to initiation of therapy. Advise patients to seek immediate medical care with sudden onset of flashes of lights, floaters, or vision loss.

 

Qlosi is not recommended to be used when iritis is present.

 

Qlosi should not be administered while wearing contact lenses. Remove lenses prior to the installation of Qlosi and wait 10 minutes before reinsertion.

 

Avoid touching the tip of the vial to the eye or any other surface.

 

Adverse Reactions

The most common adverse reactions (5% to 8%) are instillation site pain and headaches.
